R U OK DAY CELEBRATIONS AT THE ARBOUR

Approximately 80 residents attended our main building, The Enclave, for bacon and egg rolls, coffee van, ukulele and singing performance, a speech by resident Colleen Fry, table decorations, posters hung on walls, handouts of the ordered RUOK wrist bands and booklets.

In the lead up our residents committee led by Maggie Langham, Rita Cooper and Colleen Fry delivered RUOK labels attached to KitKat bars with a door stop RUOK conversation with every household.

The day was promoted via these visits, The Arbour Monthly Newsletter and email reminders to all. We adopted the key message around active listening and being aware particularly in a retirement village of others and their wellbeing. It’s part of the decision when people chose to live at The Arbour for its caring community and being a little old fashioned neighbourhood where respect and keeping an eye out for one other are key values. Great relationships are formed...we even had two residents marry 4 years ago.
